Club flying sites

The Latrobe Valley Model Aero Club currently has 2 power Model flying sites and 2 Slope Gliding sites in the area from Traralgon to Drouin.

1 Lake Narracan near Moe/Newborough - This site is now the LVMAC's major flying Site and development began in 2000. It now has a 120m X 50m mowed grass strip and is suitable for Powered models and Thermal gliders. We also have a small beach and Jetty that is suitable to fly float planes from . In 2012 we put in a small concrete strip (2.4m X 12m) for electric models. The first & third gates are normally locked and Club Members can buy a key for access to this site (see the club secretary or treasurer). Parking space for major events is limited but no problem on normal weekends.

NOTE: No Model flying at any Club Sites on days of total fire ban. All LVMAC Club Sites are in the West and South Gippsland Fire Region.

The Lake Narracan Site is on Google Maps - search - LVMAC location - The directions are incorrect as there is no South Shore Rd, between Thompsons Rd and South Shore Rd.

Entry is down Sullivans Track, left onto South Shore Rd and through a gate at the Lake Narracan Caravan Park. The gate needs to be kept shut at all times

2 Warragul The old Warragulsite is now closed and is being developed into a housing estate and a NEW WARRAGUL site has be found. It is closer to town and is only suitable for models that are not noisyand can fly in a small area..

It is located on the corner of Number One Rd and Copeland Rd and has a locked gate access from Number One Rd.

3 Tyers - A slope soaring site that we call NO PINE is located on the Tyers - Yallourn North Rd, above the old open cut mine. This is also private property and care should be taken when getting over the fence.
